Le livre couvre les différences entre la ROM de l'oric 1 et celle de l'Atmos. Ce livre propose 17 chaiptre et 11 annexes, ainsi qu'une introduction, et un index. Cela commence par de simples choses telles que la façon d'installer la machine, puis montre comment effectuer de petit calculs avec la commande PRINT. Puis, progressivement le lecteur est guidé dans un apprentissage du Basic selon une méthodologie très scolaire. Chaque chapitre résume ce qui a été couvert, et ce qui aurait du être acquis. Très bien pour les débutants, mais peut être irritant pour les personnes plus expérimentées. Les programmes d'exemple sont plutot bon, et proposent des démonstrations graphiques, un carnet d'adresse, un petit programme de dessin, ainsi qu'un mastermind parmis d'autre petits examples utiles tel une routine de lancé de dés. En conclusion c'est un bon titre pour toute personne ne disposant pas du manuel de l'Atmos. Il propose même uine petite section dédiée à l'assembleur.
This book covers both Oric-1 and Atmos ROMs and shows the difference where applicable. WHAT'S IN IT? Well, there's 17 chapters and 11 appendices plus an introduction and an index. In brief the beginning is the simple stuff of how to set your Oric up and how computers work showing how you can get the Oric to do sums (PRINT 2+2). It builds up to more and more complicated things, so that it guides you easily through how to program BASIC. With a somewhat school-book feel, it gives a summary of what was covered in a chapter and what you should have learnt. Quite handy for beginners, but the more experienced might find it a bit irritating ! But then this book is aimed mainly at beginners, being essentially like the manual. Example programs are quite good with the graphics demo showing you how to draw an Oric-1. (Something they perhaps should have changed for the Atmos Handbook !) An address book, sketch pad and a mastermind programs are featured amongst other useful little bit demonstrations, like the dice throwing routine. SUMMARY. I found this a useful book. A good choice if you have no Atmos manual. I like this one though it has a small machine code section.
